Pembroke Power Station completes its team with ex- Murco employees

The 2,200 MW Pembroke Power Station is one of the largest and most modern facilities of its type anywhere in Europe. Employing almost 100 full time staff and supporting many more contractor jobs, the plant provides efficient, reliable and flexible power for millions of homes. Pembroke Power Station requires highly skilled, experienced engineers and technicians to operate and maintain it.

The closure of the Murco Milford Haven Refinery last November came as a shock to the region. The loss of over 300 jobs had a huge impact on its employees and the local area.

In order to try and assist the soon-to-be redundant staff with securing other roles, a job fair was held in partnership with local businesses. RWE attended in order to promote current and forthcoming vacancies in their organization. All candidates went through a rigorous recruitment process. 13 former Murco employees were successful and have now joined RWE to support the operation and maintenance of the power station and the wider RWE portfolio in the UK.

Adam Morgan, Portfolio Support Engineer commented, ” I served my apprenticeship as a Mechanical Maintenance Technician at Milford Haven Refinery and after that I went to work in a variety of roles across the plant. I am looking forward to my next challenge and getting stuck into my new role at Pembroke Power Station.”

Andrew Morgan, Pembroke Power Station Manager, said: ”The candidates demonstrated high technical competence and their motivation following a difficult period has been impressive. We welcome them all to Pembroke Power Station and wish them every success in their future careers with RWE.”
